Dear Friend,
With summer now in full swing, I’m enjoying the warmer weather and longer days! I hope you're all finding ways to stay cool and make the most of summer too. While I have you, I want to highlight some federal grant opportunities to help you improve energy efficiency and protect our environment.
You can find up-to-date information on all open federal grants here. This spreadsheet is updated regularly as more grants become available and lists grants related to agriculture; arts and culture; business and commerce; community development; consumer protection; disaster prevention and relief; education; employment, labor, and training; energy; environment; food and nutrition; health; infrastructure; income security and social services; natural resources; opportunity zones; regional development; science, technology, and R&D; transportation; and more.
Here are some of the best grant opportunities available right now:
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program
The Department of Energy’s EECBG Program Voucher Application Portal is now live. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program is designed to help states, local governments, and Tribes reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions and improve energy efficiency. The deadline to apply has been extended to October 31, 2024 for local governments, and the deadline is May 31, 2025 for tribal governments. Visit the EECBG Application Hub to find templates and resources.
Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grant Program
The Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grant Program will fund the replacement of non-zero-emission Class 6 and Class 7 heavy-duty vehicles with zero-emission vehicles. The EPA expects to provide up to $932 million in federal funding – particularly for applicants who serve the communities most impacted by air pollution. Eligible applicants include municipalities, public schools, nonprofit school transportation associations, and States. The application deadline is July 25, 2025, and you can visit here for more information on how to apply.
Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program
The Department of Transportation has announced the second round of the $1.3 billion Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Grant. CFI is a competitive grant program created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (that I voted to pass into law!) to expand access to electric vehicle charging and alternative fueling infrastructure where people live and work. The deadline for application questions is coming up on July 29, and the deadline for round 2 applications is August 28, 2024. You can find more information here, and apply on grants.gov here.
And don’t forget – my office can also help your grant efforts with a letter of support! Congressional letters of support help show grant reviewers that your project has buy-in from regional stakeholders and make your application more competitive. If you would like to request a letter of support from our office, please contact my team by emailing SaraJacobs.Grants@mail.house.gov to learn more about how my staff and I can help you!
Warmly,
Sara Jacobs
